Building a business is often portrayed as a fast-paced journey filled with overnight success stories, but my experience with Luv Luxe has been quite the opposite. Looking back, I’m grateful for that.
As things slowly started picking up with Luv Luxe, I was constantly posting my local “WE BUY BAGS” ads. Through those ads, I met some incredibly unique people. In fact a couple people still sell to Luv Luxe from back then although the transactions are a little more official now. I added things to the business by learning and sometimes the hard way. I’ll never forget buying a Chloé Marcie from a young woman. We agreed on pricing, completed the transaction, and everything seemed just fine. Then, less than two hours later, my cell phone started blowing up. She was upset she had sold the bag and began threatening me and saying some really wild stuff! That experience taught me a valuable lesson very quickly: never give out your personal phone number. And just like that, I got my first business line.
At the time, growth was slow and steady and honestly, that turned out to be a blessing.
Every six months, I invested something back into the business to level it up. Whether it was improving operations, upgrading tools, or creating a better customer experience, I focused on making consistent progress. Truthfully, I still operate that way today. I believe it’s one of the reasons Luv Luxe continues to thrive: we’re always evolving, even if the changes happen gradually.
From the beginning, my vision for Luv Luxe was never to have dozens of stores or hundreds of team members. I wanted to grow at a healthy, manageable pace. More importantly, I wanted to build a team—not just hire.
That mindset was shaped by my own experiences in the workplace. I once worked for someone who would announce that I was her employee before we even took two steps into a room. It always made me feel small. While I could probably write endless blog posts about past job experiences, the reality is that those moments helped shape the leader I am today.
The people who work alongside me are incredibly important to me. My homies stay with me, and I’d like to think one reason why is because I invest in them. When we grow, they grow. I listen. I do my best to make sure everyone feels valued, appreciated, and, when I can, a little spoiled. Yes it’s true if you stay at Luv Luxe for 5+ years I gift you a Cartier love bracelet.
If you have a passion, a dream, or an idea you want to pursue, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by where to begin. Social media doesn’t always help. Every day, we’re flooded with images of luxury lifestyles, impressive revenue numbers, and carefully curated highlight reels. It can make you feel like you’re already behind before you’ve even started.
But here’s my advice, if it’s worth anything: slow down. Put the blinders on. Trust your instincts. Focus on your own path. Don’t go into massive debt trying to manufacture overnight success. Sustainable growth may not be flashy, but it’s often far more rewarding. I truly believe you’ll go much further if you trust yourself and simply take things one step at a time.
Thanks for being here.
