Things at the Optima were really starting to take off for Luv Luxe. We had expanded into three small offices, I had hired my first official employee, and my one obsession was simple: build more inventory but I need more money. I wasn’t interested in getting investors, loans etc. At the time, I was dating Mr. Luv Luxe (then just my boyfriend), and he was absolutely appalled that I couldn’t really swim. Naturally, he came up with what he thought was a brilliant solution. To sweeten the deal, my boyfriend promised that if I learned how to swim, he’d give me money to buy more inventory for Luv Luxe. Because we had access to the Optima amenities, including the pool, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:00 a.m. I met a random swim instructor he found on Craigslist (scary) but I was determined to get more inventory. The swim lessons themselves? Let’s just say my instructor wasn’t exactly Olympic material. But I learned enough to stay afloat and, more importantly, earned more inventory money. Looking back now, the completely unhinged things I was willing to do just to buy another handbag and keep growing this business make me laugh. Every Birkin, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton that came through our doors felt like one more step toward the dream. Turns out I wasn’t just swimming I was swimming for the next bag! What a wild journey.
Thanks for being here.

Ps: I still can’t swim very well, maybe it’s time I hire myself a real coach!
